Dear friends and readers,
Today I want to share some news that fills me with excitement. On the 9th of May, I will be at the Feria Vegana de Barcelona giving the talk "Migrating as a Pack: borders, diaspora, and intersectionality in the multispecies family".
In this presentation, we will explore the geographical and emotional dimensions of migratory processes when the family unit transcends species. We will analyse how various borders penalise multispecies households, rendering invisible the bonds that are fundamental to navigating uprootedness. From an intersectional perspective and focusing on the realities of LGBTIQ+, racialised, and foreign individuals, we will reflect on the need to rethink mobility policies to protect these families. Thus, we will understand how, faced with the hostility of the diaspora, our true refuge and roots are sustained thanks to our pack.
This gathering is born from memory, effort, and the hope of making our realities visible against the discourses that attempt to invalidate us. I would love to be able to share this safe space for reflection with everyone who comes along to the festival.
